Why is Employee Productivity so Essential?
It doesn't matter what the business climate is, what type of business you're in or even how many employees you have. If you own a business or manage part of a business, you know the importance of productivity. Businesses are outcome-focused and results-driven and need to be productive to achieve their sales and profit goals.

Determinants of Employee Productivity
Employee productivity is a fundamental requirement for any company to reach its financial targets. There are three primary factors that determine an organization's level of productivity:

  • Its employees
  • Its systems, procedures and processes
  • Its resources, such as computer networks, equipment, etc.

Barriers to Employee Productivity
Despite the hi-tech computer networks and the leanest procedures, a wide variety of barriers and challenges will always be pulling at every employee:

  • Co-workers
  • Workload
  • Changes
  • Procedures
  • Issues from home
  • Time management

These regularly occurring barriers affecting employee productivity result in poor attitudes, poor stress management and lack of focus and commitment. These barriers live in an employee's mind, influencing frame of mind and subsequent productivity.

Time for an Attitude Adjustment?
Changing Habits, LLC, of Appleton, Wisconsin, believes that the tremendous amounts of time and money invested into the latest processes and computer networks will be limited, at best, if a company's employees are not in the "right frame of mind". Our sole focus is to help businesses keep their prime investment - employees - motivated.

The basis for my service is rooted in organizational psychology. There are two special group dynamics that exist for businesses and organizations not found in other groups or systems. Unlike marriages or families, a work group is unique in that its purpose is to deliver a specific outcome. The other factor is the concept of business co-dependency. There exists, in even very small companies, the unique dynamic that the productivity of one employee is heavily dependent on the productivity of the co-workers he or she interacts with.

The workshop, one for staff and one for supervisors, is a three-hour course that engages attendees through a variety of cognitive techniques. Discussions, case studies and skill development techniques offer the following deliverables:

  • Develops key work skills

Supervisors need, and deserve, separate workshops. They are expected to carry out many roles with one of the most critical to motivate employees. The Supervisor Productivity Workshop helps first-time and front-line supervisors enhance leadership development by identifying and building upon their employee productivity techniques.
